Torts B – Negligence

Available to level 1 and level 2 LLB students.

A study of general principles of negligence, including duty of care, standard of care, breach of duty, causation and defences, as well as special topics in negligence, such as nervous shock, economic loss, omissions, employer’s duties, non-delegable duties and personal injury damages.

Learning Objectives:

  1. develop students’ understanding of fundamental underlying principles at work in the law of torts, as well as the dynamics of the case law system.

Assessment by final examination (70%); on-course assessment (30%). (Subject to variation.)
