Current Debates and Practices in Journalism

This honours prerequisite subject provides a forum for advanced debate on developments and issues in journalism, in terms of world media, national policy and/or applied professional issues. Students work with all staff in the journalism program as they develop and present considered analysis of current concerns in journalism and the media more generally.
Learning Objectives:
- to develop deeper and more extensive knowledge of contemporary issues facing journalists and media owners and operators;
- to advance academic skills of inquiry, analysis and presentation of argument.
Assessment by participation in classes (10%); seminar paper presentations, assignments and/or essays (90%).
