This is the second of six units in the Bachelor of Communication Design’s multimedia stream. Through a series of lectures, tutorials and practical sessions, this subject examines issues relating to the use of sound resources in a range of multimedia projects. Students will learn sound input techniques using basic system software and more advanced editing and mixing using programs such as Quicktime Pro, Sound Edit 16 and Final Cut Pro. Emphasis will be given to the development of an analytical approach to creative problem solving founded on a sound understanding of the relevant production processes. Specifically this subject provides the essential background to capturing music and sound for multimedia. It investigates the industry standards for sound used in film and television, web and within other multimedia platforms.
