Sample Data Systems: Classical analysis and design of sample data systems, Z-transform system modelling and the effects of sampling
Modern Controller Design: State models of systems, controllability, observability, state feedback controller design
Programmable Logic Controllers: Design project applying PLCs in modern manufacturing systems.
Learning Objectives:
- demonstrate a competence in assessing and improving the dynamic performance of sample data systems using classical and modern control system analysis and design techniques.
- design a control system applying PLCs in typical industrial manufacturing systems
Assessment by examination (50%-70%); on-course assessment (30%-50%).
