Approximately 110 contact hours, approximately 100 non-contact hours. June block mode. Practical component may include visits to operational mines depending on accessibility and class numbers.
Mapping techniques, sampling procedures and theory, drilling logging, mining and beneficiation methods, smelter contracts, blocking and calculating of reserves, mine planning, case histories.
Learning Objectives:
Assessment by preparation of a seminar and accompanying 20 to 30 page document (25%); completion of selected practical materials during the subject (20%); completion of take-away assignments (30%); examination (25%).
