Multimedia Web Design

26 hours lectures, 13 hours tutorials, 39 hours practicals. Semester 1.

This subject focuses on developing multimedia for the web and includes markup languages, designing and developing effective web interfaces, usability issues, incorporating graphics, audio and animation into web sites, web development and scripting using contemporary multimedia development tools.

Learning Objectives:

  1. understand multimedia web development using contemporary development tools;
  2. understand the issues in designing effective interactive web sites;
  3. understand and be able to implement best practices in modern web design;
  4. be able to effectively use markup languages and scripting to develop web sites;
  5. be able to create graphics, audio and animation for the web.

Assessment in this subject involves significant on-course assessment in the form of assignments during the semester, a major project and an examination at the end of the semester during the official examination period. Full details about the assessment will be handed out in class during the first week of the semester and posted on the web.
