Introduction to Multimedia

Introduction to the fundamental concepts in multimedia including media issues, representation, storage, transmission; text, graphics, audio and video concepts; multimedia design and delivery; multimedia development tools.
Learning Objectives:
- understand the important issues involved with text, graphics, audio and video;
- understand the basic computer hardware and software requirements for multimedia;
- understand the multimedia development process;
- understand multimedia delivery including web delivery;
- be able to create interactive multimedia pieces using contemporary development tools.
Assessment in this subject involves significant on-course assessment including assignments and tests and an examination at the end of the semester. The full details of the assessment are handed out to students in the class in the first week of the semester in which the subject is offered and posted on the Web.
