Selected aspects of the law of property (including intellectual property), bailment, agency, sale of goods, consumer protection, insurance, negotiable instruments, debt recovery and trusts.
Learning Objectives:
- describe selected aspects of the law of property;
- identify the elements and the legal significance of bailment;
- explain the elements and the operation of the law of agency;
- describe the sale of goods transaction and the operation of Australian consumer protection legislation;
- describe the bank-customer relationship and the use of negotiable instruments in modern commerce;
- explain the mechanisms whereby debtors become bankrupt and the consequences of bankruptcy.
Assessment by a written assignment (10%); on-course test (20%); final examination (70%). (Subject to variation.)
