Introduction to Commercial Law

A general introduction to the Australian legal system, a more detailed introduction to the law of contract and an introduction to the torts of negligence and negligent misstatement.

Learning Objectives:

  1. state the sources of Australian Law;
  2. outline the court systems that operate in Australia;
  3. describe the elements, the significant terms and the operation of contracts;
  4. identify the principles of the law of torts as they apply in a commercial environment (with particular emphasis on the law of negligence and negligent misstatement).

Assessment by written court report (10%); one on-course test (20%); final examination (70%).
