International Cross-Cultural Management

Introduces students to the key responsibilities of international and cross-cultural management. This subject analyses the multiple roles, tasks and skills a manager requires in order to effectively manage an international and cross-cultural organisation. Provides an integrated approach to the study of organisational strategy, structure, design and behaviour. Students examine the often paradoxical needs of managing international and cross-cultural organisations, given the often conflicting requirements to balance long- and short-term objectives.
Learning Objectives:
- understanding the global environment in which international management occurs;
- understanding the conceptual and practical dimensions of planning, organising, leading and controlling an international and cross-cultural organisation;
- understanding individual and group cross-cultural behaviour, inter-group dynamics and international management theory in practice;
- understanding and applying the theories, concepts and practices of international and cross-cultural management.
Assessment to be advised by first week of lectures.
