Advanced Research Techniques

Available to level 4 Tourism, Business, Management, Marketing and Human Resource Management Honours students.

This subject develops research strategies and methodological skills and analyses relevant to tourism, management, marketing and/or human resource management. Topics considered include case studies, survey methodology, questionnaire construction, field work techniques, simulation methods, behavioural mapping and index construction. Students in this subject produce a succinct individual supervised research proposal in preparation for the honours thesis (BU4055).

Learning Objectives:

  1. develop student understanding of the philosophy of research;
  2. develop awareness of research as a process;
  3. develop knowledge of a variety of research methods;
  4. enable students to structure an individually generated research proposal in tourism, management, marketing or human resource management.
