Physiological Systems and Processes 2

40 hours lectures, 20 hours practicals. Semester 2 (Townsville, Cairns, Mt Isa campus); Semester 2, Limited Attendance (Townsville campus).

Available to Nursing Science students only.

This subject comprises the basics in physics; nervous system; genitourinary system; respiratory system; acid-base balance; cardiovascular system; reproductive system; high altitude; diving and space physiology.

Learning Objectives:

  1. physiological systems and processes in the human body;
  2. fundamental concepts of physics;
  3. understand the central nervous system, excitable membranes;
  4. organ, tissue and cellular interrelationships;
  5. high altitude, diving and hypobaric medicine.

Assessment for full-time students by examination (70%); practical (30%). Assessment for distance mode students by examination (40%); on-course assignments (30%); practical assignments (30%).
