Anatomy and Pathology Honours

26 hours tutorials, 30 hours workshops/seminars, 30 hours training in techniques needed to conduct the research proposal. Full year.

Available to students with a bachelor degree in any related health science course.

This subject is for students wishing to undertake research in anatomy and pathology. Available to suitably qualified graduates from any science or psychology program approved by the Head of the School of Medicine. The subject consists of research undertaken for the preparation of a thesis for an honours degree.

Learning Objectives:

  1. understand the principles underlying the formulation of a research question including the requirement for appropriate ethics approvals;
  2. carry out a literature search and critical review of the literature;
  3. carry out the laboratory procedures necessary to collect data for the research proposal;
  4. ability to analyse data with the use of the appropriate statistics and to critically evaluate the results;
  5. report findings through the presentation of a scholarly thesis.

Assessment by research proposal seminar (10%); literature review (5%); exit seminar (10%); examination of the thesis (75%).
