Contact hours will vary according to the module chosen up to a maximum of 120 hours workshops. Semester 1.

Available to level 2 BT students only.

Students will undertake either Acting or Production modules.

Acting

Students select appropriate modules from both movement and vocal skills.

Vocal modules — muscularity of the word, text analysis, accents and dialects.

Movement skills — shoulder, neck, spine release; body centering philosophies and practice.

Production

Students will develop the skills necessary for the development of design processes for all areas of theatre. Together with practical skills, students will explore the methodologies needed to utilise these skills towards the fruition of particular design elements.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to enable students to develop, employ and obtain mastery of core skills in the discipline.

Assessment by:

Acting

Movement: creative diary (1500 words) (20%); performance (30%); Voice: voice journal (10%); phonetics written examination (10%); Shakespearian sonnet performance (10%); performance with an accent (20%).

Production

Two projects based on specific design elements (60%); two essays describing methodologies associated with design projects (40%).
