Contact hours will vary according to the module chosen up to a maximum of 126 hours workshops. Semester 2.

Available to level 1 BT students only.

Students enrolling in this subject will undertake studies in either Acting or Production modules.

Acting

Vocal skills — resonance, range, breath capacity, articulation and sight reading.

Movement modules — differentiated physical control as an artefact of acting.

Production

Stage management skills; role of the stage manager; principles and organisation of the prompt copy. Company organisation; planning for production; stagecraft; professional work practices and company dynamics in production and performance.

  1. to enable students to identify, employ and obtain mastery of core skills in the discipline and their application in the field.

Production

  1. to enable students to identify, employ and obtain mastery of core skills necessary for application to professional theatre.

Assessment by:

Acting

Movement: seminar participation/projects (30%); performance (20%); Voice: voice journal (10%); rehearsed performance (20%); impromptu performance (10%); practical demonstration (10%).

Production

Essay (2000 words) (50%); on-going projects (30%); participation in tutorials/practicals (20%).
