Contact hours will vary according to the module chosen up to a maximum of 120 hours workshops. Semester 1.
Available to level 1 BT students only.
Students enrolling in this subject will undertake either Acting or Production modules.
Acting
Study topic contemporary drama pieces in Performance physical approaches to performance, action through language, justification of an action, characterisation, interaction with a partner, inner monologue and film of inner vision, improvisation.
Production
Technical production students will be introduced to prop design and prop making; an introduction to set design through model making and drafting; an introduction to set construction and the use of appropriate workshop tools and machinery; an introduction to the history of theatrical design.

Acting
- to enable students to identify, employ and obtain mastery of fundamental key competencies necessary to professional practice.
Production
- to enable students to identify, employ and obtain mastery of core skills necessary for participation in professional theatre.
Assessment by:
Acting
The ability to demonstrate the above skills in rehearsal process (five key elements of rehearsal process) (50%); the ability to apply these skills to a performance (five key elements of performance skills) (50%).
Production
Preparation and participation in practicals (25%); continuous practical skills tests related to ongoing projects (75%).
