Available to level 3 sport and exercise science, physical education and other students.

This subject is designed to examine the beneficial effects of exercise and sport on several pathophysiological conditions including cardiovascular disease, asthma, diabetes, arthritis and multiple sclerosis. The emphasis will be on the beneficial effects of exercise and sport on health.
Learning Objectives:
- demonstrate an understanding of several human pathophysiological conditions;
- demonstrate an understanding of the principles leading to the health benefits of regular exercise;
- identify, evaluate and solve problems in this area;
- advise on the health benefits of exercise and sport to the community.
Assessment by a three-hour end-of-semester examination (55%); assignments (45%).
