Psychological characteristics of athletes in various sports, the role of anxiety and stress in sport performance, motivational states affecting performance and the social dynamics of team performance.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to understand human behaviour in sport using mainstream psychological theory and established research methods;
  2. to be able to facilitate athletic performance through application of these theories.

Assessment by a three-hour end-of-semester examination (50%); on-course tutorial assignments (10%); written assignment (40%).
