26 hours tutorials, 26 hours practicals. Semester 1.

Available to Bachelor of Photography students.

By means of a written contract negotiated with the subject coordinator, students enrolling in this subject will produce a portfolio of work to near professional standard in an area of photography of their choice. A program of work may be completed in any of the following broad categories: portraiture; photojournalism; commercial photography; fine art photography.

Learning Objectives:

  1. gain a greater understanding of one area of professional photography;
  2. apply previously acquired knowledge of photographic technique to achieve near-professional results;
  3. acquire a portfolio of work that will assist in gaining employment in the photographic industry;
  4. explore experimental alternatives wherever possible in the quest for originality and creative excellence;
  5. identify different creative processes, strategies and outcomes leading to the production of a portfolio of work representing the student’s personal artistic direction.

Assessment by folio of photographs as per individual approved contract (80%); journal detailing folio conception and progress (20%).
