HECS Band 1

26 hours supervision. Full year.

Available to Public Policy Honours Program students on recommendation of Course Convenor and relevant Head of School(s).

The Public Policy Honours Internship provides an opportunity for students to complete a jointly-supervised research project within an institutional framework. It will involve an original piece of research in public policy, regular meetings with both academic and host supervisor(s) and presentations to public policy seminars.

Learning Objectives:

  1. develop research and writing skills required to complete a substantial, independent research project in public policy;
  2. achieve a professional level of expertise in a selected area of public policy;
  3. learning about team work and collaboration through interaction with work colleagues.

Assessment by thesis (100%) which will be examined by two examiners approved by relevant Head of School(s). The host supervisor will also provide a written assessment of the intern’s thesis and of his/her overall contribution to the internship. The host supervisor’s report may be taken into account in border-line cases and will enhance, but not diminish, a student’s final grade.
