Performing Music 1

Available to BMus and BEd students who have passed the music rudiments test.

Performing music involves active specialisation in one of four areas: instrumental or vocal performance, composition, music technology or musicology. Students engage in a variety of practice-based studies in their chosen area by choosing from a suite of elective tasks. One of the fundamental components of this subject is aural training and students work comprehensively in this area.

Learning Objectives:

  1. develop and enhance skills in either composition, instrumental or vocal performance, musicology or music technology in a variety of contexts;
  2. develop and enhance verbal and written skills in a variety of music contexts;
  3. increase aural awareness skills of perception, analysis, identification and synthesis.

Assessment by approved elective tasks (75%); aural training (25%).
