Flexible delivery mode, including up to 12 teleconferences. Semester 2. RATEP mode only.

This subject will focus on communicative English skills needed in the classroom with particular attention to the demands of utilising Standard Australian English in cross-cultural contexts. This subject will address a range of the elements of communication including grammar, vocabulary and communicative skills and functions as they apply in teaching across cultures.

Learning Objectives:

  1. develop confidence and autonomy in students’ classroom language use;
  2. acquire understandings and communicative skills necessary for teaching in cross-cultural contexts;
  3. integrate language skills in a communicative framework appropriate for cross-cultural teaching.

Assessment by written and spoken tasks. The tasks will be weighted equally.
