Advanced Japanese 3

26 hours lectures, 26 hours tutorials (video-conferenced to Cairns), 3 face-to-face workshops in Cairns. Semester 1.

A wide range of authentic material is used in this subject such as TV dramas and documentaries, fictional and non-fictional prose, etc. Tasks include summarising and discussing the content of Japanese TV programs and various readings, both in speech and in writing.

Learning Objectives:

  1. increase in general students’ proficiency beyond the level achieved in the prerequisite advanced level subject;
  2. increase the accuracy and complexity of language use in discussions and in summary writing with special emphasis on using the appropriate register of speech.

Assessment by assignments, in-class tests, oral/aural and written examinations: listening (25%); speaking (25%); reading (25%); writing (25%).
