Honours Thesis

Semester 1 and 2.

Available to students with a Bachelor of Indigenous Studies degree or equivalent.

Staff: Dr S McGinty.

A sustained review or synthesis of a significant issue related to Indigenous research as approved by the supervisor in consultation with the Head of School. Small-scale original research (including replication study) may be conducted but is not required. Skills of analysis and synthesis and appropriate theoretical and methodological application are expected of the order appropriate to a higher degree. A dissertation is normally supervised by an academic staff member of the School on approval of the Head of School.

Learning Objectives:

  1. demonstrate understanding and mastery of a disciplinary area of Indigenous research with the scholarly expectations of a higher degree.

Assessment by 15,000 word dissertation which is assessed by two examiners (excluding the supervisor) and approved by the Executive Dean on the recommendation of the supervisor and the Head of School.
