Indigenous Research Ethics

Available to students with a Bachelor of Indigenous Studies degree or equivalent.

This subject provides an introduction to the major ethical issues in Indigenous research, examining social and economic and political constructions of Indigenous Australia. Particular emphasis will be placed on a critical analysis of existing research practices and procedures as they impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. Students also learn how to conduct a literature review.

Learning Objectives:

  1. develop an appreciation of ethical issues involved in conducting research in Indigenous contexts.

Assessment by attendance and completion of minor assignments (30%); major assignment (70%).
