The practical skills of how to produce a live magazine program one day a week on the local community radio station. These skills will include research, interviewing, structuring, recording, editing, writing and mixing. Students will be encouraged to be creative in their use of sound, text and music to enhance the information being conveyed. The magazine form and production process will be analysed using a variety of examples.
Learning Objectives:
- an understanding of the techniques used to effectively communicate information and ideas in a radio magazine;
- how to research and prepare a written proposal for a magazine;
- planning and executing a magazine production schedule;
- recording and finding relevant audio material;
- structuring, scripting and mixing the magazine.
Assessment by weekly magazine program (40%); one radio promotion (20%); one radio interview (20%); attendance and participation (20%).
