Global Greed: An Overview of World History

This subject examines the emergence of Europe as a world power and considers major political, intellectual and social developments from 1500 to 1900. These include capitalism, religion, education, colonialism and the family.
Learning Objectives:
- to introduce students to the discipline of History and the work of international historians;
- to understand the historical background of modern structures, institutions and attitudes;
- to develop skills in historical writing and research.
Assessment by essay writing exercise (10%); tutorials (30%); essay (30%); examination (30%).
