26 hours lectures, 39 hours tutorials (Townsville campus); 26 hours video-conferenced lectures, 26 hours video-conferenced tutorials, 13 hours tutorials held in Cairns, eight hours supplementary tutorials held in Cairns over four weekends (Cairns campus). Semester 1.

General French language appropriate to the objective outlined below.
Learning Objectives:
- to take students to a level approaching minimum “vocational” proficiency (a notional 3- on the ISLPR scale). Students will be able to interact with French speakers with little allowance being made for slower than usual responses or inaccuracies of expression. Skills will include a growing ability to pick different registers, both in spoken and written French.
Assessment by in-class tests and/or end-of-semester examinations: listening (25%); speaking (25%); reading (25%); writing (25%). Completion of three-weekly homework assignments is a compulsory requirement of the subject.
