Contemporary Approaches to Research in Environmental Studies and Geography

5 day intensive plus 6 days workshops/discussion periods. Semester 1 block mode.

Available to all honours students and new postgraduate students in TESAG programs.

The theoretical frameworks, paradigms and research methodologies used by human and physical geographers and environmental scientists; the challenges of multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to provide honours and postgraduate students with a stronger theoretical framework for their research by increasing their understanding of the appropriate use of various research paradigms and methodologies used by environmental scientists and geographers.

Assessment by major assignment (40%); minor assignment (25%); school seminar attendance (15%); reflective journal (20%).
