Developing Curriculum

Available to Postgraduate Certificate of Education, Bachelor of Education (Professional Development) and Master of Education students.

Students examine their roles in curriculum development through a study of educational practice, literature on curriculum development, education system requirements and through simulation of curriculum development processes. Students emphasise the roles they are involved in but experience something of other roles as well. Examples of such foci include: the development of school and classroom curriculum documents such as mission or policy statements or workbooks, relationships between curriculum and administration and the design of curriculum in school.

Learning Objectives:

  1. develop conceptualisations of curriculum;
  2. identify implications for schools of such conceptualisations;
  3. apply these conceptualisations to the curriculum and evaluation tasks in schools.

Assessment by literature review (3,000 words) (40%); curriculum project (60%).
