Administration in Educational Settings

Students critically examine contemporary issues of school administration. They analyse connections between systems of management and issues of power, hierarchy and participation in decision making. In doing this, they examine theoretical issues of administration, devolution and managerialism in the context of school reforms.
Learning Objectives:
- develop models of management suitable for a culturally diverse and changing educational environment;
- apply these to the school settings in which they are located;
- identify role conflicts implied in these models with the roles they are currently occupying.
Assessment by literature review (3,000 words)(40%); administration project (60%).
