Behaviour Management

The subject will explore management of school students’ behaviour within group contexts. It will examine major theories of behaviour management, proactive versus reactive management and formulating classroom and whole-school policies and plans.

Learning Objectives:

  1. compare and contrast major theoretical approaches to behaviour management and group processes;
  2. critically evaluate proactive and reactive styles of management;
  3. develop an appreciation of current policies relevant to classroom and whole-school behaviour management issues;
  4. integrate these knowledges in relation to options and issues in establishing systematic behaviour management at classroom and whole-school levels.

Assessment by discussion paper 1 (30%); discussion paper 2 (30%); discussion paper 3 (40%).
