Advanced Teaching Study in Health Education and Physical Education

20 hours lectures, 10 hours workshops. Semester 2.

Available to BEd (Human Movement) students only.

This subject further examines the health education and physical education curriculum for Queensland schools. Students will analyse the current syllabi and trends in curriculum construction and implementation. The role of school sport will be examined.

Learning Objectives:

  1. identify the place and purpose of health and physical education in Queensland and Australian schools;
  2. examine trends in health and physical education curriculum;
  3. explore and develop an understanding of the diverse nature of health and physical education and mediums for implementation;
  4. explore and develop an understanding of the role of school sport.

Assessment by curriculum portfolio projects (70%); seminar presentation (30%).
