Integrated Primary Curriculum Development and Teaching

20 hours lectures, 20 hours workshops. Semester 1. External in Semester 1 for RATEP students only.

Staff: Dr B Bamford (Townsville campus); Dr R Hickey (Cairns campus).

This subject further develops an integrated view of classroom planning, teaching and evaluation, especially long-term planning and curriculum development. Emphasis is also placed on classroom management as a deliberate aspect of a teacher’s classroom practice.

Learning Objectives:

  1. understand the research into and historical background and relevance of classroom planning;
  2. be capable of effective classroom planning, at both individual and collaborative levels;
  3. extend the theory of practice relating to the implementation of classroom management.

Assessment by negotiation with the student cohort, but will centre on completion of an integrated unit plan (55%); a final semester examination (45%).
