Learning Objectives:

  1. be introduced to basic chemical principles and characteristic chemical reactions;
  2. appreciate the application and relevance of these principles and reactions to a range of scientific disciplines, including the biological, earth and environmental sciences;
  3. be familiar with, and competent in the application of, simple laboratory techniques in chemistry.

Assessment by laboratory work and reports (20%); CAL modules (5%); tests (15%); three-hour examination (60%).
