Advanced Research Techniques

Available to level 4 Tourism, Business, Management, Marketing and Human Resource Management Honours students.

This subject develops research strategies and methodological skills and analyses relevant to tourism, management, marketing and/or human resource management. Topics considered include case studies, survey methodology, questionnaire construction, field work techniques, simulation methods, behavioural mapping and index construction. Students in this subject produce an individual supervised research project in preparation for the honours thesis (BU4055).

Learning Objectives:

  1. develop student understanding of the philosophy of research;
  2. develop awareness of research as a process;
  3. develop knowledge of a variety of research methods;
  4. enable students to structure an individually generated research proposal in tourism, management, marketing or human resource management.
