Business Reseach Methods

26 hours lectures, 12 hours tutorials. Semester 1.

This subject examines the nature of research design and methods plus advanced statistical and qualitatitve data analysis relevant to business. Both lecture and practical sessions introduce students to report writing in conjunction with the quantitative and qualitative methods demanded of business researchers.

Learning Objectives:

  1. students will cover all apsects of research design and incorporate these research skills in conjuction with statistical and data gathering skills into designing a research project;
  2. students will gain sufficient experience in research design, computer skills and advanced statistical knowledge to allow them to participate in research projects in advanced elective subjects;
  3. students will gain sufficient experience in research design, computer skills and statistical knowledge to give them a basis on which to complete an honours thesis; to operationalise the thesis; collect, collate and analyse data; and present the results at the student conference.
