30 lectures, 14 tutorials, 18 hours practicals. Second semester.

Available to graduate students with a degree in Veterinary Science (other appropriately trained graduates may enrol at the discretion of the Director of the Australian Institute of Tropical Veterinary and Animal Science).

Recent advances in the disciplines of virology, immunology and applied aspects of microbial genetics and recombinant DNA technology with emphasis on applications to veterinary science.

Learning Objectives:

  1. understand the recent advances in the disciplines of virology, immunology, applied microbial genetics and recombinant DNA technologies;
  2. critically evaluate the strategies used to apply these advances to contemporary veterinary science.

Assessment by laboratory practicals (10%); tutorials (15%); assignment (20%); examination (55%).
