Principles and practice of public health surveillance for communicable disease with topical case studies drawn from Australia and internationally. Areas of particular focus include emerging infectious diseases, communicable disease control in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, global surveillance systems and use of the internet in public health surveillance and effective disease control strategies in resource poor settings.
