Models of administration in health care settings, an overview of information systems, use of information technology in health administration systems, strategies for the effective implementation and sustainability of information technology in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health programs.

Learning Objectives:

  1. knowledge of the common health administration systems;
  2. ability to identify the components and functions of a generic information system;
  3. broad understanding of the different information management systems in common use in health organisations;
  4. understanding of the problems associated with the implementation of information systems in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health organisations.

Assessment by participation (10%); assignments (20%); examinations (70%).
