Fundamentals of Theatre Production

52 hours practicals (includes some individually scheduled hours). Full year.

Available to all students except those enrolled in the BT.

This subject examines many areas associated with “backstage” theatre. Students learn the hierarchical structure of a typical Theatre Company, the roles of those concerned, the essential skills associated with sound, lighting, set and stage management.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to enable students to develop technical knowledge necessary for the production of theatre;
  2. to develop skills aimed at a more professional approach to the staging of theatre in an educational situation.

Assessment by three minor papers (50%); practical skills tests (50%).
