Theatre Practice 2A

Contact hours will vary according to the module chosen up to a maximum of 140 hours workshops. First semester.

Available to level 2 BT students only.

Students enrolling in this subject will undertake either Acting or Production modules.

Studio production and performance projects are devised to facilitate individual student-focused work towards professional practice.

Acting

Students select appropriate modules from approaches to style; classical texts in performance, the performer as ‘receiver’, techniques of spoken verse and heightened prose, characterisation in classical texts, research of the theatre conventions of the period.

Production

Students undertake production work for performance that includes: set design and construction, props design and construction, stage management, lighting design and operation, wardrobe and costume.

  1. to develop creativity and enable students to identify, employ and obtain mastery of core skills necessary to professional practice.

Assessment by:

Acting

5 key elements of rehearsal process (10% each) (50%); 5 key elements in performance skills (10% each) (50%).

Production

Written paper outlining and analysing various processes within a given project (50%); continuous practical skills tests pertaining to the given production department (50%).
