Sport and Exercise Psychology

Psychological characteristics of athletes in various sports, the role of anxiety and stress in sport performance, motivational states affecting performance and the social dynamics of team performance.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to understand human behaviour in sport using mainstream psychological theory and established research methods;
  2. to be able to facilitate athletic performance through application of these theories.

Assessment by a three-hour end of semester examination (60%); on-course tutorial assignments (20%); practical (20%).
