Available to level 2 sport and exercise science students, physical education students and other students.

This subject is designed to provide the skills and knowledge necessary for effective evaluation in the laboratory and field. The practical application of various protocols that the sport scientist may wish to use in evaluating physical fitness and sports skills will be examined.
Learning Objectives:
- to understand the basic concepts of test evaluation and selection;
- to demonstrate familiarity with testing procedures such as aerobic and anaerobic capacity, flexibility, power, strength and muscular endurance, agility, balance, speed and reaction time for all populations;
- to evaluate the scientific basis of the various test protocols;
- to demonstrate an ability to construct and administer testing sessions;
- to interpret results of fitness assessments and construct appropriate reports for coaches/clients.
Assessment by a three-hour end-of-semester examination (50%); assignments (40%); practical examination (10%).
