A study of competing theories of global politics and society. Topics will include the rise and operations of the state system and global economy, the causes of war and the conditions of peace, theories of global politics and society.
Learning Objectives:
- to provide students with knowledge of the literature on international relations theory;
- to introduce students to the major contemporary debates among international relations theorists;
- to develop skills in research and writing on international relations theory;
- to have students appreciate the pluralism of global politics and society.
Assessment by module assignments (40%); essay (30%); two-hour examination (30%).
