Advanced Medical Nursing

40 hours flexible delivery. Second semester.

Available to registered nurses enrolled in postgraduate courses in the School of Nursing Sciences.

This subject focuses on the delivery of advanced nursing care to medical clients within the current health context. Using the continuum of care as an approach, medical nursing in both hospital and community settings is addressed.

Learning Objectives:

  1. discuss current health issues and trends in clinical management;
  2. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of relevant physiology and pathophysiology;
  3. perform a comprehensive client assessment;
  4. demonstrate advanced problem-solving skills;
  5. utilise a reflective practice and critical thinking approach to delivery of care;
  6. apply principles of effective discharge planning.

On-course assessment (100%).
