Pathophysiological Processes in Midwifery

Application of the material covered in NS5112 to situations in which there is either a pre-existing or pregnancy-induced maternal imbalance or foetal/newborn pathophysiological states.

Learning Objectives:

  1. current technologies used to assess maternal/foetal state;
  2. pathophysiological processes affecting fertilisation, pregnancy, labour and the puerperium;
  3. pathophysiological processes of the foetus/newborn.

Students will be encouraged to think independently about these topics, conduct literature searches and will participate in regularly scheduled discussion groups.

On-course assessment (100%).
