Available to students undertaking a postgraduate diploma or master of nursing sciences and to other postgraduate students with approval of the Head of School and Executive Dean of Faculty.

This subject will focus on identifying changes required in the organisation and delivery of health services to meet identified health needs, within a range of community settings. Students will utilise existing information on health needs (e.g. needs assessments, Government health policies and existing organisational policies) to determine the changes required, from a primary health care perspective. Based on this information students will design relevant intervention strategies and recommend appropriate evaluation mechanisms.

Learning Objectives:

  1. critical assessment of the appropriateness of health services within an identified region;
  2. identification of the changes required in the organisation and delivery of health services from a primary health care perspective;
  3. identification of strategies for change.

Assessment by assignment 1 (50%); assignment 2 (50%).
