Research Dissertation

Prerequisites: Final year status LLB or combined degree

Available as part of the Honours course to level 4 students with a GPA of at least 5. Students not enrolled in the Honours course may be admitted to this subject at the Executive Dean’s discretion. First and second semester.

Honours candidates must enrol in this subject, in either first or second semester of their final year. Students will be required to submit a substantial piece of research at the end of the relevant semester. The length of the dissertation is 9,000-12,000 words. Students should refer to the Law Honours Rules as printed in this Handbook.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to develop high quality research and writing skills in areas of law which require deep critical analysis and evaluation, synthesis and reform;
  2. to foster the development of such research skills and the publication of such writing.

Assessment by dissertation (100%).
