This subject develops the news gathering skills learnt in the first year and applies them specifically to the print media. Students will be expected to establish and maintain a network of personal news sources and contacts during the semester. They will be allocated news rounds from which they will be expected to produce regular news stories. Where appropriate these stories will be submitted for publication in the relevant print media.

Learning Objectives:

  1. establish a network of news contacts;
  2. maintain a news round;
  3. produce a regular flow of news stories for the print media to publishable standards.

Assessment by regular news story assignment.
